Internal carpentry repairs can come from the house moving with dry or wet weather, age and general wear and tear. Carpentry repair work is generally done in the room rather than made to a drawing, prebuilt and carried in.

What counts as general carpentry?

Repairs to the joinery and timber work inside a finished building: built-in seating and bookshelves, storage benches, window seats, cupboards, trims.

Built in place, or made up and brought in?

Built in place, nearly always. Rooms are not square and skirtings are not straight. The window seats and bookshelves shown on this page were custom built in the rooms they are installed in.

How does the work come finished?

Raw, or primed ready for a painter. Say which you want at quote time, because this can change the material as well as the labour costs. The painting itself is generally not included in the quote.

Can you match existing joinery in an older house?

Usually. Profiles for skirting, architrave and shelf edges are still available in most common patterns. Send a photo of the existing piece if you can.

How big a carpentry job will you take?

A run of built-in shelving, a window seat, a storage bench, cupboards to an awkward space, trims and repairs to any of it. Give me a call and I'll come to you, look at the work and give you a quote.
